My rates for researching, copywriting, sub-editing and proofreading are based on current NUJ scales for Freelance Professional Writers; they are regionally adjusted and realistic.

I believe a sound agreement fosters trust. Here are my standard terms:

Terms and Conditions: I warrant that my services shall be provided with reasonable skill and care. Any liability on my part for breach of contract or negligence shall be limited to the making good or resupply of the services contracted, provided that the client’s dissatisfaction with said services is notified to me promptly.

Authoring and Placement: I will use my best endeavours to ensure that content authored by me is free of any errors but will not be held responsible for any errors which may arise in the course of processing or placing of my content. I do not accept responsibility for any losses/damages arising from any errors within said content. I do not accept any responsibility for errors caused by third party action occuring to the content during placement or thereafter.

Copyright: The client will obtain all necessary permissions and authorities in respect of all graphic images, logos, names and trademarks to be included in the content. Every order shall be regarded as a guarantee by the client to me that such permissions and authorities have been obtained. Copyright of textual content will remain with Sara Barrett. Content cannot be reproduced without the permission of the author.

Terms of payment: 25% of the total cost of the order falls due immediately, the remainder falls due within 28 days. Once the work is completed I will invite the client to view and advise corrections. When a client has signed off the project by email or letter and I have received payment, the work will be released. If the client defaults on any of these conditions I reserve the right to suspend services after notice of 5 working days. These conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English Law.
